PNAS is one of the world’s most-cited multidisciplinary scientific serials. Since its establishment in 1914, it continues to publish cutting-edge research reports, commentaries, reviews, perspectives, colloquium papers, and actions of the Academy. Coverage in PNAS spans the biological, physical, and social sciences. PNAS is published weekly in print, and daily online in PNAS Early Edition. The PNAS impact factor is 9.737 and the Eigenfactor is 1.557 for 2012. The 5-year impact factor is 10.583. PNAS is available by subscription.

PNAS Online

PNAS Online receives 25 million hits per month. The site contains the full text, figures, tables, equations, and references of all articles in PNAS dating back to 1915, as well as a wealth of online-only features such as Supplemental Information, Letters to the Editor, and PNAS Plus research articles.

PNAS articles are also published daily online before print in PNAS Early Edition as soon as they are accepted and final author changes are made. The date of online release is posted on the Web site and is the official date of publication. Papers are published online 1 to 5 weeks before they appear in print.

PNAS offers a series of special feature issues that highlight emerging fields in the physical, social, and biological sciences and are edited by leaders in the field. Special features include a cluster of perspectives and peer-reviewed research articles. Bound reprints are available for a nominal fee.

  • Perpetual Access guaranteed after the termination of contract
  • “Opt-out” clause in case of superior or irresistible force (force majeure)
