The American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) is a non-profit organization, founded in 1964, with overarching goals of improving cancer care and prevention and ensuring that all patients with cancer receive care of the highest quality. More than 25,000 oncology practitioners belong to ASCO, representing all oncology disciplines (medical, radiological, and surgical oncology) and subspecialties. Members include physicians and health-care professionals participating in approved oncology training programs, oncology nurses, and other practitioners with a predominant interest in oncology.

As the world’s leading professional organization representing physicians who treat people with cancer, ASCO is committed to advancing the education of oncologists and other oncology professionals, to advocating for policies that provide access to high-quality cancer care, and to supporting the clinical trials system and the need for increased clinical and translational research.

Flagship journal of The American Society of Clinical Oncology, JCO serves its readers as the single most credible, authoritative resource for disseminating significant clinical oncology research. In print and in electronic format, JCO strives to publish the highest quality articles dedicated to clinical research. Original Reports remain the focus of the Journal, but this scientific communication is enhanced by appropriately selected Editorials, Commentaries, Reviews, and other work that relate to the care of patients with cancer. JCO's audience comprises medical professionals from all oncology disciplines and subspecialties including medical, surgical, pediatric, gynecologic, and urologic oncology, therapeutic radiology, and hematology. Readers are physicians, researchers, oncology nurses, and other health care practitioners with a predominant interest in oncology. JCO's 2007 impact factor is 15.484 and the journal is published three times per month – a total of 36 issues per year.

The Journal of Oncology Practice (JOP) is a forum to provide oncologists and other oncology professionals with information, news, and tools to enhance practice efficiency and promote a high standard for quality of patient care. The goal of JOP is to be an authoritative resource on clinical and administrative management for practicing oncologists. The Journal includes a cover story, original research, feature articles, and section columns on a variety of issues important to daily practice operations and the care of patients. JOP's audience comprises medical professionals from all oncology disciplines and subspecialties. Readers are physicians, researchers, oncology nurses, and other health care professionals seeking information on clinical and administrative management. JOP is a bimonthly journal – a total of 6 issues per year.

Access

Subscribers to JCO receive the print version of JCO and are provided with access to JCO online. Access to JCO online includes full text of all articles back to 1999 and abstracts and PDFs back to 1983 - a total of over 12,000 articles. ASCO subscriptions run for twelve months and can start at any time of the year.

JCO Legacy Archive

The JCO Legacy Archive includes electronic full-text back issues of JCO from volume 1, number 1 (January 1983) through volume 16, number 12 (December 1998) and is available for a one-time purchase. The JCO Legacy Archive can be viewed as searchable scanned images of the printed pages for download in PDF format. The JCO Legacy Archive is free to individuals and members.
